Phase 4 guidelines for arts and culture now available

Based on the state’s current reopening metrics, Illinois is on track to move into Phase 4 of Governor Pritzker’s Restore Illinois plan for phased reopening this Friday, June 26. In preparation, both the state and the City of Chicago released new Phase 4 guidelines today for arts and culture organizations. The Alliance continues to work on behalf of the sector in reopening conversations with both the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois, and we’ll provide resources to help you navigate these guidelines.

The Governor’s new Phase 4 guidelines include information for museums, zoos, theaters / performing arts, film production, and other recreational activities. Resources include recommended safety restrictions, communications materials, and staff training toolkits. Click here to access these industry-specific guidelines.

The City of Chicago also released Phase 4 guidelines, which include specific recommendations for film and tv production, museums, performance venues, and movie theatres. Click here to access the City of Chicago’s Phase 4 guidelines.

Many municipalities around the state are also developing their own guidelines. It’s important that you review both state and local documents and their implications for you and your creative business. Wherever state and local guidelines differ, you should follow the more restrictive guidance.

For questions on the state guidelines, the Alliance will be hosting a webinar with a representative of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity this Thursday at 3pm to answer questions. Click here to register.

For additional questions you can also call or email the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity at 1-800-252-2923 or CEO.support@illinois.gov.

For any questions on the Chicago guidelines, call 311 or use their online portal. The City of Chicago also recommends that businesses “self-certify” for reopening, which can be done here.
