Capital Day is a convening and day of action that will cap our efforts during this spring’s legislative session in Springfield.
Whether you’ve been championing the arts for years or are just dipping your toes into the action, Capital Day offers opportunities to connect with artists, creatives, administrators, and action-takers from across Illinois.
Capital Day events will take place from 9am-5pm, with the last hour being an optional happy hour and celebration.
Official release of Arts Alliance's policy goals
We’ve been hard at work on a policy agenda that supports creative nonprofits, for-profits, individual workers, and arts educators in Illinois, and we’re excited to share the plan in its entirety at Capital Day.
Civic education sessions
Join us for educational sessions focused on how to advocate for issues relevant to the creative community in Illinois.
Capital Day Breakfast
At the Capital Day breakfast, we’ll fuel up, hold a policy briefing to get everyone up to speed on arts actions in Illinois, and let you connect with legislators and others from your area.
Opportunities to connect with legislators
This is an important time for decision-making in Springfield, and this is our chance to champion the arts! Through direct legislator meetings, connections at breakfast and happy hours, or through a public gathering, our goal is to get their attention and ensure the arts community is heard.
Arts rally
What better way to spread public awareness of the creative community than a rally in the Capital Rotunda? We’re firming up specifics, but it’ll be fun, we promise.
Creative sector happy hour
End your day of advocacy with your fellow Capital Day participants, Arts Alliance staff, arts leaders and advocates!
